hanging out at home

Lydia and I have been having a good time hanging out at home lately…

She started “playing” with her activity gym:

We got to hang out with Aunt Robin and the cousins last week.

This is Andrew with “Lilia”

And after bath time yesterday morning, I captured a smile on camera!!

DSC_3060 Of course, we still have our share of rough days! Lydia spits up quite a bit these days and is always very upset with me when I stop her mid-mealtime to burp!

She also doesn’t seem to enjoy napping for long periods of time in her crib during the day, but would rather cry or sleep in our arms, in her bouncy seat, or in her car seat if we’re out. Is this the appropriate time to let her “cry it out” in her crib? I’d love any advice from you experienced Moms out there!

Hi Betsy. She's just so stinkin' cute! I would love to talk to you about our experiences with sleep training. I'll either e-mail you or catch up with you on Sunday. I will say that it is too early for full on "Cry It Out" - the developmental milestone for that is 12 weeks. Hang in there! And we'll talk soon.

baby frank is the SAME way- i can't remember the last time he napped in the pack and play during the day. he rests on the couch w/ me after i feed him. i've learned (not sure if this is wrong or right) that if i move him, he'll wake up w/in a couple minutes...but if i leave him where he is, he'll nap at least 30-40 mins, maybe even an hour!
sometimes i'll fall asleep nursing him in bed in the middle of the night and wake up w/ him w/ me in the bed and my arm around him. does that happen to you?

lydia is a cutie! thanks for sharing the pics :) you're brave to give her a bath by yourself- i have to wait for daddy frank to help me cuz baby frank is so squirmy!

have a great day ;)

Lydia is just beautiful! Isn't being a mom the greatest? This sounds so familiar! Lane spits a lot and gets angry when it's time to burp too. He also thinks that he needs to nap in my arms and be rocked to sleep and refuses to sleep in his crib during the day. He really doesn't have a "naptime" yet and spends most of his daytime sleeping in his bouncy seat or my arms.

3 months is about the time for "crying it out", so don't get too worried about it yet. Though, if you need a break, letting her cry in the crib for awhile won't hurt her!

Love the first picture!!! (well they are all good but still, I really like the first)

I agree with the advice- probably a lttle young, but, if you need a break sometimes it has to be done, for you (at least that was how is was for me:)....looking back I probably waited a little too long for B and boy did I have a HARD time!

Thanks for the great encouragement and advice, friends!! It helps a lot to know that I'm not alone and that Lydia is like most other babies :) And I'm glad I'm not supposed to let her "cry it out" quite yet- I don't think I could handle it! And it is still pretty fun holding her while she sleeps even if it means less gets done :)

Betsy, that first photo is simply adorable!!! I love them all, but there's something just so sweet about that one. Thanks for sharing your photos, I love that I get to see her growing up even though we're far away.
