10 months old!

Our little Lydia is growing up! It has been so fun to see her develop into her cute little personality these days! DSC_8666

She loves to laugh and play- her favorite game is peek-a-boo. She’ll tease you by hiding behind a couch, blanket, pillow, counter, etc, then pop out to surprise you!

She LOVES to be on her feet and she’s walking everywhere. If she falls, she’ll start crawling but then realize it’s much more fun to walk, so she’ll get to her feet and start walking again.

At her 9 month appointment, she was 18lbs, 3oz and 29in tall (50% weight, 90% height!). The doctor was impressed that she had taken her first steps already :) (And she FLYS up stairs, too but has no clue how to go down!)

She has 4 teeth on the bottom, and nearly 2 have broken through on the top. These past few days it seems that she prefers table food to mashed baby food, and she insists on putting it in her mouth herself- then if its new, she’ll take it out to examine it, then put it back in two or three times.

Though she’s not one to enjoy sitting and reading with anyone, she has some favorite books that have textures that she loves to touch and feel over and over. Her favorite toys are the ones that aren’t toys of course- remotes, phones, laptops, etc! We borrowed a friend's bike buggy and went cruising along a forest preserve trail a couple weekends ago. She loved having daddy pull her!

She still only says “Mama” and “Dada” occasionally, but she is CONSTANTLY babbling and we hear new letter sounds all the time! She has a lot to say, especially during mealtime!! We look forward to hearing all that she is saying in a little while! :)

And the above photo reminded me of a couple taken 5 years ago of her mommy and daddy, and her aunt and cousin:

Walking with help!

Lydia borrowed a push toy from her cousins and this how she did on her second day of practice. Pretty, good, huh?!

4 months already!?

Yes! Lydia is now 4 months old! She is a happy and smiley baby! She’s weighing in at 13lbs, 14oz (50%) and 25in (90%!!).

She’s been rolling all over the place. One day I put her on her mat. A couple minutes later I looked over and couldn’t even see her- she had rolled off her mat and was playing between the couch and the coffee table!

She’s still not sleeping through the night, but her sleep stretches have been much better and her naps are slowing getting a little longer than 30 minutes :)

This month, she started sucking her thumb occasionally. She also discovered her toes and figured out how good they taste!

Lydia “tasted” her first Starbucks coffee and Portillos chocolate shake ;) (not really)

She actually did try a watermelon snow cone made by her cousin Hannah and really seemed to enjoy it!! She cried when we took it away!

We’ve started to see glimpses of her laugh. It’s so fun!

This next month were looking forward to her first plane trip, wedding, and starting solid foods! wow!

3 months old!

Lydia is 3 months old!

DSC_8058

Since she doesn’t have a doctor’s appointment this month, we took another trip to the post office to weigh her! :)

She’s 12lbs 3oz , and measuring about 23.75 in.

It seems like she’s grown SO MUCH in the past couple weeks! Every day Adam and I are amazed and also a little sad! We tell her to stop growing all the time (we don’t really mean it, but still- it’s going by too fast!)

DSC_7154_enhance

In the last month she has rolled over both ways! Tummy to back is pretty easy for her now when she wants to. Back to tummy happened only once and it was when mommy wasn’t watching… so we have yet to witness how she does it, but we’ve seen her get very close. She loves playing on her back and recently started doing 180 spins in a matter of minutes!

DSC_8019

She likes playing in her new bumbo. But when we party too much this is what happens… ;)

DSC_8080

Lydia loves putting her hands in her mouth and sucking on them. She recently started putting blankets, bibs, and burp cloths in her mouth as well if they are in reach.

DSC_6115

She smiles a lot more now, for people other than mommy and daddy too.

DSC_8140

She prefers standing to sitting nearly all the time!! She has very strong legs.

We think she likes to watch the tv! She also fixates on cameras- i think she be technically inclined, but what kid wont be these days!?

Happy 3 months, Lydia! We love you girl!

2 months old!

Guess what!

Lydia just had her two month check-up. She is 10 and a half pounds, 22 and a half inches. She is growing right on track. She had a couple vaccination shots today which was no fun for either of us, but we got through it!

On an attempt to get her on a “schedule”, I’ve been waking Lydia up/leaving her in her crib till 8am. Many times I go in and she is wide-eyed and smiling, other times not so much! Her sleep at night has been varying greatly- sometimes 6 hours stretches, other times she wakes up every 3 hours on the dot. But maybe if I keep up the morning routine and carry it throughout the day, she’ll start getting a little more predictable at night?! We’ll see!

one month old!

Lydia is already one month old! It’s amazing how quickly this past month has gone by. She is fitting in beautifully to our home and our lives.

DSC_2348

Today she had her one month check-up. She is 9 lbs, 4 oz and 21 3/4 inches long. She’s growing!!

This past month was full of lots more firsts! Like last night she took her first bottle from daddy. She gulped down 2 oz with no problem!

DSC_2419

She also slept in her crib in her own room for the first time last night! She did great- she slept between 12 and 5 waking only 2 times in the middle for a paci. That was the longest stretch of sleep she’s had since in the hospital. So it seems she likes her crib and having her own space. (Mommy and Daddy will sleep better too with a few less squeaks and grunts to listen to!!)

DSC_1739

Lydia has recently figured out how to grab on to my hair and yank it while feeding- she’s already multi-tasking!!

And she’s quite mobile. She has been “scooting” about 10 inches down her crib/cradle each night :) Lydia loves her tummy time and she is pretty strong. From just barely a week old she could lift her head up fairly high on her own!

DSC_1597

And this week, she smiled at me for the first time! What a tremendous feeling it is to see her whole face just light up while she’s looking right into my eyes!! Totally melts my heart. My goal for next month is to capture it on camera!
