inheriting china

I thought it was time to post about something more beautiful than the ugly bathroom remodel!

This past Christmas we were out in Washington and Adam's Grandma offered us a set of her china! And i said YES, ABSOLUTELY I DO!!!!

We never registered for it because we wanted to make sure we received everything we needed. Later on I was a little sad (because when would ever actually go out and buy it for ourselves!?) So this is so exciting for me!

And this set that Grandma gave us is EXACTLY what I would have picked out for myself! I love it. It's a called Baroness by Noritake. It has a pretty white on white floral pattern with platinum bands around the edges.

Right now we only have 4 place settings since we didn't have much room in our luggage. But we'll collect more pieces next time we go back. Each setting has 7 pieces: dinner plate, salad plate, soup bowl, fruit bowl, dessert plate, cup and saucer.

This fun book was a wedding/shower gift. I hardly ever used it, but now with our china maybe we'll have more formal dinners!

Thanks again, Grandma!! I LOVE IT!! You can come out and visit it us ANYTIME and we can use it together :)

In the meantime, any two people want to come over for dinner?!! We're all set for you...

Oh how beautiful - both the china and the photos! You were actually wise not to register for your china right away. The china Rob and I picked out when we got married went back to the store only months after we received it all. I was never 100% happy with the pattern - I felt so rushed to pick one out just to get it registered. Silly, huh? Anyhow, we found a store that took back every piece (minus one bowl that I kept - just because). We were able to get the set we REALLY wanted in a place setting for 13 (that extra back-up set is well worth the money - especially when you have kids!), now I couldn't be happier with it! I also have Noritake china...in the Greenbrier pattern. FYI: if you ever need more pieces for it to complete a setting, there's a great site that sells tons of older patterns... http://www.replacements.com/index.htm

Enjoy it - yours is even more special because it comes from family - how awesome!! Yeah Grandma! =)

Have a great day!

I love the tablecloth too. It really accented the china. It looks similar to ours minus the floral pattern. We just have the platinum ring. IT's even cooler though from family. Good pics! :)

Great pictures, Betsy. Now...my advice: don't wait for special occasions to use it! Make every Sunday(or whatever day) a special day!!! I hope Grandma Bond visits soon so she can see it! Love, MOM

Great use of the cloth with the accents in the pillows on the bench. I'll take a set of four. Oh, is this The Pottery Barn catalog?

Where did you get such a beautiful sense of style? Dad?
