loved on by Grandma and Grandpa

Last week we had to say goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa. They had been with us off and on for over 7 weeks and it was wonderful!

They cooked, cleaned, rocked Lydia to sleep and helped us figure out how to manage our home with a new little baby :)

Secretly, Grandma had been working on this beautiful sweater for Lydia that whole time and gave it to her in time to wear it to church that Sunday they left.

held, snuggled, loved

Lydia finally got to meet her family from Washington and Nebraska!!DSC_1824

Rebekah loved reading to Lydia. Her favorite was “Go to Sleep My Love” which she and Nana gave to Lydia.

Lydia loved snuggling with Nana and Papa.

She loved meeting her Aunt Amy

And she did lots of cuddling with Uncle Aaron and Aunt Anna.

While they were here, Rebekah turned 5 so we celebrated with a surprise party!

And we went to the choo choo restaurant where a choo choo train brought Bekah her food and a birthday cupcake!

What a great week! Lydia is sad she doesn’t get quite as much snuggle time with so many people who love her these days…

Can’t wait to see you guys again!

one month old!

Lydia is already one month old! It’s amazing how quickly this past month has gone by. She is fitting in beautifully to our home and our lives.

DSC_2348

Today she had her one month check-up. She is 9 lbs, 4 oz and 21 3/4 inches long. She’s growing!!

This past month was full of lots more firsts! Like last night she took her first bottle from daddy. She gulped down 2 oz with no problem!

DSC_2419

She also slept in her crib in her own room for the first time last night! She did great- she slept between 12 and 5 waking only 2 times in the middle for a paci. That was the longest stretch of sleep she’s had since in the hospital. So it seems she likes her crib and having her own space. (Mommy and Daddy will sleep better too with a few less squeaks and grunts to listen to!!)

Lydia has recently figured out how to grab on to my hair and yank it while feeding- she’s already multi-tasking!!

And she’s quite mobile. She has been “scooting” about 10 inches down her crib/cradle each night :) Lydia loves her tummy time and she is pretty strong. From just barely a week old she could lift her head up fairly high on her own!

And this week, she smiled at me for the first time! What a tremendous feeling it is to see her whole face just light up while she’s looking right into my eyes!! Totally melts my heart. My goal for next month is to capture it on camera!

a model baby

Lydia had her first photo shoot at 8 days old!

Erica Lynn had some great ideas for little Lydia…

DSC_0053

She crocheted a little cocoon for her baby photo shoots and Lydia snuggled right into it.

Bottom right: Lydia was done being posed on her boppy and was trying to crawl away! (She got some great height for being only 8 days old!)

going for a walk

When the weather hit a balmy 45 degrees, we took Lydia for her first walk!P1140438

She seemed to enjoy it (she slept the whole way!)

It will likely be the first of many walks this year… :)
