entertaining

This weekend we babysat the kids for a few hours while Jon graduated from Trinity.

First we had a pizza dinner, then we decorated butter cookies for dessert.

They worked so hard and did a beautiful job decorating, then decided to save their cookies and eat candy canes instead! (They're big on candy!!)

After dessert, we played some games and watched Finding Nemo.

After Andrew went to sleep, it was Micah's turn. We climbed into his bed and read a couple Christmas books with him before bedtime.

Then the big kids got to stay up, eat popcorn, watch Frosty, and play video games!

What a fun night. Let's do it again sometime soon!!

beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Yay! Christmas is almost here!

Instead of a tree this year, we bought 25 feet of garland and put it around the living room.

Here's a view of our new couch! It's very comfortable and great for cuddling up, reading and watching movies. :)

The petite handmade Nativity set my Mom passed down to me:

The beautiful stockings my Mom made for us when we got married!! She knits upwards of 30 A YEAR for new couples and babies! ...all different designs and colors (the ones she chose for us are my absolute favorite!)

The kitchen table:

My inspiration was these cute Starbucks mugs that I got FOR FREE last year after Christmas! I went late on evening in January to get a coffee and the barista was trying to get rid of them!!

They go pretty well with the cushions too!

Here's the tapestry/runner Adam's mom made for us a few years ago. It nicely livens up are hallway and you can see it right when you walk in the door.

Using the leftover garland, I made a wreath for our front door.

It's a little misshapen, but that's ok!

Don't you wish we could decorate like this all year round!?

horsing around

While in Nebraska, we went to visit a Horse named Micah!

The kids were sooo excited!

They got to brush him, feed him, and ride him several times!

Micah riding Micah...

They had a little barn with stacks of hay to play on while they waited their turn.

And these two even got to ride together!

They had the cutest little dog named Buster.
He's a distance cousin of Toto in Wizard of Oz. ;)

Andrew had fun at the farm too!

Good times!!
Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Smith!!

thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!!

This year, the entire Hunt family gathered in Nebraska at Karen and Rick's new home for Thanksgiving.

Karen's Family in white
Robin's family in blue
Mine in green ;)

We had the full rural Nebraska experience in Kearney!

The weather was pretty mild for the first couple of days which was great on the day we went to visit a horse! (more later)

"Uncle Yick" (as Micah would say!) did an outstanding job of brining and cooking the turkey. It was the tenderest, most delicious turkey I've ever had.

The kids table.

The "adults" table.

Karen's plate. Yum.

After dinner, the kids put on a "show" for us! Carly and Hannah made a cheer, the girls and I sang a praise song complete with motions, and the oldest 5 formed a band and rocked out to TobyMac. It was adorable!!

Alvin and the Chipmunks was a favorite that week.

And Grandma and Grandpa were in all there glory surrounded by their 6 grandkids and Duncan, their "granddog!"

I am so thankful for the time we had together as a family.
I am thankful for my wonderful sisters.
I am thankful for my amazing husband.
I am thankful for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who has been teaching me discipline and how to trust in Him fully.
